“Stack the Stones” was nominated for 5 New Mexico music Awards including album of the year in 2017!
After the release of “Miles To Cover, ” in 2013, we made a commitment to write an all-original album. We built our instrumentals on one-measure riffs that Max brought to our practice sessions. Themes developed and our collaborations grew. When Glenda brought in songs with lyrics of personal reflection, John and Max brought them to life with dynamic music arrangements. John wrote his first instrumental as part of a time-signature experiment. Max surprised us with his first lyric piece.
It culminated in August, 2016, when we rented a beautiful house for a week outside of Taos, NM where we recorded the whole album, masterfully engineered by Max. We wanted to capture the energy and joy of our songwriting collaborations. To that end, “Fly,” “Al’s Lament” and “Cat In The Kitchen” were recorded live.
One guitar, one fiddle, one mandolin and three voices. We hope you enjoy it.
